From Historical Recreations: 12 Century Medieval Sword
12th Century Sword - (Original: c. 1100 - 1250 Northern Europe, Museum and Art Gallery, Glasgow.)
A well known leading expert on medieval swords comments that the original could be from as early as 1100 to as late as 1250. And we trust that he should know.
The pommel, a faceted wheel, is a shape encountered in the Leppaho Viking swords, a group of swords excavated from Viking graves dating from 980-1000.
The crossguard is of an early form, which the Vikings referred to as Gaddhjalt [spike hilt].
The blade is designed for the cutting style of fighting used during this period and has a fuller running 2/3 the length of the blade.

Our version features:
A hardwood handle, wrapped in leather.
The cross guard and pommel are solid steel, polished and fitted onto a full tang that is peened at top of the pommel for strength and durability.  And is how many of the originals were fitted.
The scabbard is made from wood then wrapped in leather with a solid steel end cap.

Customer Comments:

Attn: Mr. Clyde Hollis or to whom it may concern @ Legacy Arms

        Please I would like to comment on my new sword recently acquired from Kult Of Athena, it is Generation 2 <> 12th Century Norman Sword (IP-003-2)

I have long been a practitioner of the Katana class and have excellent swords of this type. I always wanted a medieval type sword-weapon and after much research and on-line comparison of so many brands and types my choice was the Classic & Excellent  type XIIa as forged by Legacy Arms. Please know that price was not the primary concern as I had considered Albion as well as custom makers, and as it is a 1 dimensional world in internet sword search I took all available data including Sword Buyers Guide reviews (crazed Aussie) and your well defined website, but it finally came down to the fact that this sword in particular, at least to my perspective, has that magic combination of form and function that is often termed "The Golden Ratio"

My new sword resides this castle now in the 4 dimensions and an excellent weapon it surely is, for the specifications are as carefully measured;

blade= 34"  hilt= 8"   oal= 42"  weight= 3lbs. 5 oz.  pob= 6.5" cop= end of fuller   second node= hilt

Lastly Please allow some positive observations, the finish is perfect on blade and metal work...a nice soft satin "foggy" sort of subdued mirror finish
You can see some slight hammer marks and such evenly distributed, this is very attractive, it says "handmade" (not CNC), also fuller each side looks "handmade"
Apple seed edge geometry and fairly sharp, ready for my final honing
leather grip very nice, can barely see the edge overlap= well done
the sheath fits perfect and really like the steel accents top and bottom
as well the leather covering very nicely executed,
Feels Solid in kata, I am no expert swordsman, but as Musashi says "one must train diligently"
Lastly I will say that if this sword could be transported back in time to the 12th century medieval warrior, he would surely say "this is good sword"
I wish you and your company continued success and fortune.

Thank You Sir'
